Teachers of SHOU Attending 2017 Meetings of the WS-SISO and EMM Work-Groups of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)

On July 2-17, dispatched by the Bureau of Fishery under the Ministry of Agriculture and invited by the Department of National Antarctic Policies and Foreign Affairs of Argentina, Zhu Guoping, teacher of the College of Marine Sciences of SHOU and member of the Chinese delegation, attended 2017 Meetings of the WS-SISO and EMM Work-Groups of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. A total of 53 people attended the meetings, including 50 scientist representatives from nearly 20 countries (Argentina, Australia, Chile, China, Germany, India, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Ukraine, Britain, America, etc.) and related staff of the Secretariat of the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR). The meetings were convened by Doctor James Clark, scientist of the EU (WS-SISO) and Doctor Małgorzata Korczak-Abshire from Polish Polar Institute. The members of the Chinese delegation also included researcher Zhao Xianyong and Assistant Researchers Ying Yiping and Zhu Jiancheng, the Yellow Sea Fishery Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences.

The WS-SISO meeting held in the first week mainly discussed the WS-SISO-related work of CCAMLR under implementation, the measures taken, the fishing logs, the data collection methods, etc. The meeting mainly discussed the details related to the scientific observation plan implemented for three fishery industries, i.e. Dissostichus elegionides, Euphausia superba and Gadus morrhua trawl fisheries.
