SHOU Students Winning a National Gold Award in the “Creation of the Youth"- Chinese College Students' Entrepreneurship Competition

On Nov. 19, at the 2016 “Creation of the Youth- Chinese College Students' Entrepreneurship Competition which has just ended, the entrepreneurship project of SHOU students, Shanghai Songgang Aquatic Products Co., Ltd., won the gold award of the entrepreneurship practice challenge contest. It is the first national gold award won by SHOU students in this competition and a new breakthrough for our university. In addition, there were also three other projects winning national bronze awards, that is, Shanghai Suyuan Food Science & Technology Co., Ltd., Green Mountains Quick Architectural Science & Technology Service Co., Ltd. and Yushuishuang Biotechnology Co., Ltd.

The “Creation of the Youth- Chinese College Students' Entrepreneurship Competition is a national competition based on the former Challenge  National College Student Business Plan Competition. It is launched for the purposes of implementing the important series speeches of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Xi Jin’ping and relevant orders and spirits of the Party Central Committee and adapting to the demands of the developmental trend of college student entrepreneurship. It has introduced a entrepreneurship practice contest and a public welfare entrepreneurship contest based on the former competition. The competition is held every two years, and is currently the college student entrepreneurship competition with the largest scale, the most entries and the broadest scope of influence domestically.

The 2016 “Creation of the Youth- Chinese College Students' Entrepreneurship Competition was jointly sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Young League, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China, China Association for Science and Technology, All-China Students' Federation and Sichuan Provincial People’s Government. In the early registration phase, the three major contests received more than 110,000 entries from more than 2,200 colleges and universities nationwide. After layers of screening, eventually 399 entries from 220 colleges and universities (which includes, 224 in the entrepreneurship plan contest, 110 in the entrepreneurship practice contest and 65 in the public welfare entrepreneurship contest) entered the final defense phase held in the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.

After two days of final defense, the judging panel elected a total of 75 entrepreneurship plan contest gold awards, 38 entrepreneurship practice contest gold awards and 21 public welfare entrepreneurship contest gold awards. To be specific, Shanghai won a total of nine gold awards, i.e., three by Tongji University, two by Shanghai Jiaotong University, two by Shanghai Normal University, one by East China Normal University and one by Shanghai Ocean University. The entrepreneurship project of SHOU students, Shanghai Songgang Aquatic Products Co., Ltd., won the gold award of the entrepreneurship practice challenge contest.

Held in the spirit of mass entrepreneurship and mass innovation, “Creation of the Youth not only appraises and judges the quality of the projects and entries admitted, but also provides a rare opportunity for students to train and improve themselves. Here we would like to extend our congratulations to the winning teams. It’s our hope that, through this opportunity, all our students will actively learn from the innovative awareness and professional spirit of the winning teams, continuously uphold the university motto of “Diligence, Sincerity, Dedication, and Practicality”, and make new achievements in the following entrepreneurship and innovation competitions.
