Its compilation is led by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Culture, State Oceanic Administration, etc.

To be specific, the members of the Editorial Board of Chinese Marine Culture ▪ Shanghai Volume included Director Gu Jinshan, former Chief of Shanghai Municipal Oceanic Bureau and current Director of Shanghai Housing and Urban-Rural Development Management Committee; Director Bai Tinghui, Chief of Shanghai Municipal Oceanic Bureau; Executive Deputy Director, Shen Yiyun, Inspector of Shanghai Municipal Oceanic Bureau; Deputy Director Huang Shuolin, former Vice President of SHOU; and Professor Han Xingyong ,Associate Research Fellow Ning Bo, etc. Some young teachers, including Shen Qinghui, Lou Lan and Zhang Wen from the College of Humanities, Meng Qingzi from the College of Marxism and so forth, and some graduate students also participated in the compilation of this book. The compilation of this book started in 2011 under the leadership of Shanghai Municipal Oceanic Bureau, and was undertaken by SHOU Marine Culture Research Center and the Marine Culture Research Institute of Shanghai Maritime University based on a division of labor. Given the lack of a book systematically studying and introducing the marine culture of Shanghai, it’s very necessary to sort out and analyze the marine cultural resources of Shanghai, but the journey no doubt was a difficult and challenging one. After three or four years of hard work in survey, data collection and compilation, the first draft has been completed. After that, it went through rounds of refinement, revision and compilation, and was eventually submitted for publication in July this year.
