Delegation of Iwate University Led by President Akira Iwabuchi Visited SHOU

On Oct. 31, 2016, the nine-person delegation of Iwate University, led by President Akira Iwabuchi and Vice President Satoshi Ogawa, visited SHOU, and held a friendly talk with SHOU President Cheng Yudong and Vice President Wu Jiannong.

Cheng Yudong extended warm welcome to the delegation led by President Iwabuchi, introduced the history and development of SHOU, and expressed his hope of establishing a close tie between the two universities as friendly universities. After the Tohoku Earthquake of 2011, Iwate University, for the revival of northeastern Japan and under the support of Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology and Kitasato University, established Sanriku Fisheries Research Center. The researchers of the center also paid a special trip to SHOU in Dec. 2015. President Iwabuchi expressed his hope that, based on the cooperation and exchange in the fields of fisheries and food science, the disciplinary communication between the two universities would be gradually expanded. He particularly mentioned the good impression left by the students of the summer class from SHOU College of Food Science, and expressed his expectation of launching student exchange programs between the two universities to promote the cultivation of senior talents. Both sides also expressed their wish to establish a close tie between the two universities as friendly universities in the near future.

The talk deepened both the communication between the senior managements of the two universities and their mutual understanding, laid a solid basis for the establishing of a friendly agreement, and pointed out the direction of comprehensive cooperation between them in the future.
