On the morning of September 27, 2016, the opening ceremony of French Polynesia Oversea Students Mariculture Training Class was held in Meeting Room 102 in the Library and Information Center of our university. Minister Teva Rohfritsc of Blue Economy of French Polynesia, Commissioner Laurene Moux of the Ministry of Blue Economy, Aquaculture Engineer Moana Maamaatuaiahutapu of Marine Resources Department, and Technical Adviser Johanna Cros-Frogier of the Ministry of Labor, accompanied by Deputy Director Hao Zhongwei of the America and Oceania Department, Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and President Wang Cheng of Tianrui Investment Group Management Co., Ltd., participated in the ceremony. Deputy Director Ding Xiaodong of Shanghai Municipal Education Committee and Director Yang Weiren of International Exchange Department also participated in this ceremony.

President Cheng Yudong made a speech on the ceremony, extended warm welcome to 10 students from French Polynesia, and sincerely appreciated the government of French Polynesia, Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Tianrui Investment Group Management Co., Ltd. for their contributions to this training class. As he said, the arrival of students for French Polynesia Mariculture Training Class further expanded the international exchange atmosphere of our university. As a new measure to respond to the “Belt and Road” strategy of Chinese government, it laid firm foundation for the trilateral cooperation of our university, Tianrui and French Polynesia. Meanwhile, he hoped that all these students would be adapted to the new environment as soon as possible, study professional knowledge, experience Chinese culture and the unique local culture in Shanghai, and feel the charms of China in practices.
