On September 13, 2016, minority students from SHOU gathered to celebrate the traditional festival, Corban Festival. Wang Xiping, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee and Vice President of Shanghai Ocean University, celebrated the festival together with the representatives of minority students and overseas students of our university and extended festival greetings. Leaders from functional departments like University Office, Office of Teaching Affairs, Graduate School, Students Affairs Office and Logistics Management Office, teachers taking in charge of students’ affairs of all colleges and representatives of instructors participated in the celebrating activities.
Corban Festival is day embleming unity, friendship, peace and happiness. Wang Xiping affectionately pointed out that at present minority university students not only made great contribution to building a moderately prosperous society in China, but also acted as the backbone force in the construction and development of border areas. As always, the university attaches great importance to the cultivation of minority students in terms of both their studying and campus life. The university always devotes itself to providing minority students with excellent education management services, and building a sound development platform and offering strong guarantees for the growth of all minority students. She urged all students to cherish the beautiful time in campus, study hard, make a good plan of life, be brave to take on heavy responsibilities and practice the socialist core values with practical actions.
The celebration of Corban Festival is a tradition of our university for many years. In recent years, as the number of minority students and oversea student increases, the university pays more attention to their life, study and traditional festivals, thus enabling minority students to feel the atmosphere of national unity, love and care from the university and teachers and care from the party and government and furthering promoting the national unity and national development.
