Vice Chancellor of University of Edinburgh Visited SHOU

In the morning of April 5, Prof. Charlie Jeffery, vice chancellor of University of Edinburgh and chancellor assistant Ms. Natascha Gentz in charge of China affairs paid a visit to SHOU.

Vice president Wu Jiannong introduced the century-old history of SHOU to Prof. CharlieJeffery, and said that the university was expanding its cooperation with internationally known universities and institutions to improve school operation and its process of internationalization. He hoped a mechanism for cooperation and exchange between the two parties could be put in place, so as to build a platform for development of faculty and students, advance the process of internationalization of two universities, and enhance the international reputation of SHOU.

Vice chancellor Charlie Jeffery introduced the specialty features of University of Edinburgh, and pointed to the possibility of cooperating with SHOU in low-carbon technology, life science, and big data analysis. As to low-carbon technology, University of Edinburgh has engaged in close cooperation with Lingang Carbon Valley, and has established a low-carbon institute with Shanghai Jiaotong University. He expressed his hope to cooperate with SHOU in low-carbon technology, low-carbon economy and renewable energy, ocean energy in particular.

The two parties had in-depth communication in respect of the three aspects, analyzing the possibility for exchange and cooperation, and reached intent for initial cooperation. The two parties will hold further communication on specific mode and content of cooperation.
