On November 18, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Education issued No. 10 Approval for Universities Affiliated to Shanghai Municipal Commission of Education, approving the Code for Shanghai Ocean University (hereinafter as “the Code”). The Code provides basic rules and guidelines for school running, administration and performance of its public functions in accordance with law. It will serve as the institutional guarantee for the school to service the need of national and local economic development, and build itself into an application and research-oriented high-level special university with international impact.
The Code consists of 73 articles in 9 chapters, highlighting the internal governance structure and displaying uniqueness in school running. It mainly covers such contents as “overview and development concepts of the school”, “founders and the school”, “management system and operating mechanism”, “faculties and staffs”, “students”, “financial assets and service guarantee”, “external relationship”, and “school logo”
Implementation of the Code is a key symbol for running school in accordance with law and governing the school in accordance with the Code. SHOU will follow the requirements on building the modern university system with Chinese characteristics, ameliorate corporate governance structure, further implement the internal management system, operate the school according to law, and achieve development in a sound way.
