Pacific Economic Ambassador of New Zealand Visited Our University

On June 4, 2015, at the invitation of the Ministry of Agriculture of China, the delegation of the Honourable Shane Jones, Pacific Economic Ambassador of New Zealand, Mr. Carl Worker, chief business consultant of New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ms. Joanna Anderson, international policy consultant of the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries, etc. visited our university. President Cheng Yudong held cordial talk with the Honourable Shane Jones. He also introduced the development of the disciplines and specialties of marine fishery science in our university, especially the achievements in providing pelagic fishery service to government and enterprises in the recent 30 years.

The purpose of the visit by the Pacific Economic Ambassador of New Zealandis to concern about on the long-term sustainable development of albacore tuna in the South Pacific Ocean. China is the most important fishing party of tuna fishery in the South Pacific Ocean. The Tuna Technology Group in our university has made an important contribution to the sustainable development of tuna fishery in China. The visit strengthened the further understanding of both parties.
