Representatives of Our University Participated in the 13th Asia Maritime and Fisheries Universities Forum (AMFUF 2014)

From October 13 to 14, 2014, Vice President Huang Shuolin of our university and Professor Xu Liuxiong of College of Marine Sciences participated in the 13th Asia Maritime and Fisheries Universities Forum (AMFUF 2014). In total, representatives from 17 universities and research institutions in 11 countries and regions, including Korea Maritime University, Daliann Maritime University, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, Russia Far Eastern State Technical Fisheries University, Vietnam Maritime University, Japan Kobe University, Thailand Burapha University, National Taiwan Ocean University, Korea Institute of Maritime and Fishery Technology, and our university, participated in this forum.


The theme of this forum was maritime and fisheries education under the background of globalization, consisting of 5 themes of branch meetings, namely cooperation between maritime and fishery research institutions and ship and fishery companies, influence of global climatic change on maritime and fishery activities, quality control of the employee training of ship and fishery enterprises, and development of maritime and fishery education.

Vice President Huang Shuolin of our university made a report named Practices and Reflections on the Talent Training in Pelagic Fishery in the University Presidents Forum, introducing the development of pelagic fisheries in China, conditions of the students in the College of Pelagic Fishery of our university, and the successful experiences and problems and challenges encountered in the student training in the the College of Pelagic Fishery of our university. Meanwhile, Huang exchanged ideas and discussed with presidents of other universities. Professor Xu Liuxiong made a report named On the Practices and Thinking of the Training Mode of Pelagic Fishery Talents in Shanghai Ocean University. This forum fully presented the successful experiences of our university in the training of talented scholars in the field of pelagic fishery. Meanwhile, we got to know the latest achievements and experiences in the maritime and fishery education in other countries and regions and discussed the problems, opportunities and challenges existed in the maritime and fishery education under the background of globalization.
